Still, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus says it’s safe to use it and it cannot be mocked with pictures or videos. Today we have very good news for the users of OnePlus 5 since the facial recognition of the OnePlus 5T will also reach the version without reduced bezels. This year we have seen two new methods to unlock the phone with our face. The first came from the hand of the South Korean giant Samsung with the Galaxy S8 and the other was presented along with the iPhone X, of course, the Face ID. The South Korean giant Samsung uses our iris and a specific scanner to give us access, while the tech giant Apple recognizes face points with several sensors. In the case of the OnePlus 5T, there is no special sensor since it only uses the front camera of the device.
The OnePlus 5 already has facial recognition enabled
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus has not developed this facial recognition but uses Google’s tools to use it. Thanks for not using any specific sensors or a second camera, as the OnePlus 5 can also count on this facial recognition. So, the users who have updated his/her OnePlus 5 to the latest beta of Android 8.0 Oreo, can simply enjoy this security function on their respective OnePlus 5 smartphone. We have not yet seen it in operation, not even OnePlus has officially reported, but we are sure that the company will end up implementing this method in its other devices of 2017. It is really simple, since you only have to update the software of the device, without making any other change. Both phones have the same front camera, so the operation should be the same. Now we just have to wait to see if OnePlus finally implements this method of facial unlocking in the OnePlus 5, as it will soon officially update to the stable version of Android 8.0 Oreo. At the moment we will have to settle for the fingerprint sensor which is available on the front chassis of the device. So, what do you think about this?
